Start with chemistry, then choose the hydraulic and seal arrangement

Henan Gefulan Pump Co., Ltd. presents chemical centrifugal pumps under the 格富兰泵业 / Gefulan Pump Industry brand. Its Chinese company name is 河南格富兰泵业有限公司, and its stated locality is Suncun, Zhaogang, Fengqiu County, Xinxiang, Henan. Its company-issued illustrated catalogue gives distinct metallic process, fluoroplastic-lined, submerged and split-case water-pump routes.

For a chemical transfer order, specify the liquid components and concentration, contaminants, solids, density, viscosity and normal/startup temperature. Then identify the required flow/head range and suction conditions. A metallic process pump, a lined mechanical-seal pump and a submerged pump can require quite different materials, auxiliaries and installation interfaces even when the nominal duty is similar.

CZ: agree the seal scope and withdrawal space

The CZ introduction describes a horizontal, single-stage, single-suction pump. Its published family envelope extends to 2,000 m³/h and 160 m head, with an operating-pressure statement of 2.5 MPa and a temperature range of −80°C to +300°C. The curve-selection page separates 2,900 and 1,450 r/min regions; these extremes are not one available duty point or one universal material/seal configuration.

The construction description allows packing, cooled or uncooled, and single or double mechanical seals. It describes a bearing/shaft/impeller assembly that can be withdrawn while the casing stays connected to the piping. Where a spacer coupling is used, the motor can also remain in place. This is useful for maintenance planning: agree the supplied coupling, withdrawal clearance, lifting access and actual seal support system.

The catalogue references DIN 24256 / ISO 2858 dimensions and an API 610 eighth-edition design basis. ISO 2858 concerns pump designation, nominal duty points and dimensions; a dimensional reference does not establish complete pump interchangeability or current API acceptance. Compare the offered general-arrangement drawing, flange drilling, shaft height and coupling/motor interfaces with the old installation.

ZAO open-impeller duty and high-temperature support need separate schedules

The ZA/ZAO section distinguishes a standard closed impeller from the ZAO open-impeller route. It describes service with clean or slightly contaminated liquids and discusses gas or solids for the open-impeller direction. Obtain the offered impeller and permissible particle size, concentration and wear allowance for the actual fluid; the broad application text does not select a solids-handling configuration by itself.

The page gives a general −20°C to +180°C temperature range and a separate −20°C to +450°C centreline-support statement. The accompanying pictured construction is foot supported. If the project needs the higher-temperature route, specify the support design and ask for the thermal/material and seal schedules; do not apply 450°C to the pictured foot-mounted pump.

The bearing-frame description uses oil lubrication and identifies cooling arrangements above 250°C. The pump description also allows heating or cooling at the seal housing and different sealing/flush systems. Ask for utility requirements, lubrication, temperature monitoring, shutdown protection and the components actually supplied. Keep process pressure, seal-chamber pressure and flange rating explicit on the order.

IHF65-50-160 and IHF65-40-200 show why the full code matters

The IHF construction sheet describes a metal casing lined with F46 fluoroplastic, with a fluoroplastic-covered impeller and an external bellows mechanical seal. The material table separately identifies the casing, lining, shaft, seal gland and faces. A pump-body lining does not mean that every seal face, fastener and structural component is made from the same polymer.

Two actual catalogue rows illustrate the ordering differences. IHF65-50-160 lists 25 m³/h at 32 m, 3.82 kW shaft power and a 5.5 kW motor. IHF65-40-200 lists 25 m³/h at 50 m, 6.53 kW shaft power and an 11 kW motor. Both rows use 2,900 r/min and NPSHr 3.5 m; the discharge changes from 50 to 40 mm and the impeller designation changes from 160 to 200.

Provide the complete chemical and temperature schedule, then request compatibility confirmation for the lining, mechanical-seal faces and secondary seals. For abrasive material or crystallisation, define particle size and concentration rather than rely on a broad acid/alkali application list. Specify the electrical area and driver requirements separately; a product photograph does not establish explosion-protection certification.

FY selection begins with the vessel drawing and lowest liquid level

The FY catalogue describes a vertical pump installed directly on the liquid vessel and a construction without the conventional mechanical-seal arrangement discussed for the horizontal chemical pumps. It distinguishes an impeller for relatively clean liquid from an open arrangement for liquid with particles or short fibres. Obtain the actual lower assembly and impeller configuration for the process.

For example, 50FY-25 lists 14.4 m³/h at 25 m, 2,900 r/min, 1.96 kW shaft power and a 4 kW motor; 65FY-40 lists 28.8 m³/h at 40 m, 2,900 r/min, 6.04 kW shaft power and an 11 kW motor. These table points do not specify immersion length, vessel flange, minimum liquid level or the material required by your chemistry.

Send a vessel section with the top plate, opening, required immersion depth, lowest/normal/highest liquid levels and discharge routing. Ask how the lower bearings or guides are lubricated, how solids are handled, and what lifting and dismantling space is required. Confirm vapour containment and motor-area suitability where applicable, alongside the fluid and material schedule.

S / SH clean-water rows preserve duty, speed and power together

The S/SH section identifies a single-stage, double-suction, horizontally split pump for clean water or liquid with similar properties, with a stated temperature limit of 80°C. It gives factory, water-supply, power and irrigation applications. This water-pump direction should stay separate from the chemistry and lining specifications of IHF or the process-seal schedule of CZ.

The three rows below come from the same S/SH performance page. For 150S78, the sheet also gives 45 kW shaft power, 75.5% efficiency and NPSHr 3.5 m. Its 55 kW motor is a separate selection column. For 250S65, shaft power is 109 kW, efficiency 78.6% and NPSHr 3 m at the listed 1,450 r/min.

The code example 300S(SH)58A uses 300 for inlet diameter in millimetres, 58 for design-point head and A for a changed impeller diameter. Specify the entire code, full curve and impeller trim. Provide water temperature, tank or intake level, suction piping, supply frequency and the required range of operation so the actual suction margin and driver can be reviewed.

Make the offered build and inspection records part of the order

For a metallic or lined process pump, request a general-arrangement drawing, material schedule, seal data sheet, auxiliaries diagram and the agreed performance curve at the offered speed. Define whether the quotation includes the motor, baseplate, coupling guard, spacer coupling, cooling/flush equipment and controls. Keep inspection and material-traceability requirements tied to the particular pump supplied.

For an existing installation, attach the nameplate, full pump code, flange and foundation dimensions, previous operating curve and the reason for replacement. Identify corrosion, seal leakage, suction problems or abrasive wear so the proposed change addresses the failure rather than simply matching a nominal flow number. Agree the test liquid, speed, acceptance points and documents before release.
