Choose the backing technology before specifying a Roots vacuum unit
Qidong Haisheng Vacuum Equipment Co., Ltd. identifies itself as 启东市海圣真空设备有限公司 and lists its base in Beixin, Qidong, Jiangsu. Its product range includes ZJ/ZJP Roots pumps, water-ring pumps, 2X rotary-vane pumps, MH-2 slide-valve pumps, W/WLW reciprocating pumps, LG dry screw pumps and combined vacuum units. The useful comparison is how each backing technology handles your process gas.
Define the gas composition, condensable-vapour load, particles, required working absolute pressure and evacuation cycle. A solvent recovery train, a dry chamber and a water-vapour drying process do not have the same liquid, oil or temperature requirements. Include the vessel volume and any condenser between the process and the pump.
For a replacement, provide the installed main and backing pump nameplates, measured inlet and foreline pressures, cooling conditions and the present failure mode. This helps distinguish inadequate backing capacity from liquid-temperature effects, leakage or a process load that was absent from the original selection.
Four published Roots combinations have different supply and contamination questions
Haisheng documents these separate package families. Start with their construction difference, then ask for a curve and a bill of materials for the selected process rather than choosing by the largest Roots designation.
| Published package | Backing route | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| JZJX | 2X rotary vane | Is the gas non-condensable and non-corrosive as described, and compatible with pump oil? |
| JZJS(Y) | Two-stage water/liquid ring | What are the vapour load, working-liquid temperature and liquid-treatment requirements? |
| JZJG | LG dry screw | What are the gas-contact coating, temperature-control and solvent-handling provisions? |
| JZJWLW | Oil-free vertical reciprocating | How are valves, condensate protection, cooling and exhaust treatment specified? |
The JZJX table lists main-pump geometric speed, not chamber capacity
The JZJX entry describes Roots pumps backed by rotary-vane pumps for air and other non-condensable, non-corrosive gases. Its table expressly identifies the listed pumping speed as the main pump’s geometric pumping speed. Use the pairings below to discuss a configuration, not to promise the same effective speed at a connected vessel.
The same table gives a separate pressure-limit entry of 5 × 10⁻² Pa. Ask for the gauge, test gas, blank-off conditions and the operating pressure at which continuous capacity is demonstrated. Ultimate pressure and gas removal under load answer different questions.
Confirm the exact Roots variant and its start permission. The ZJ/ZJP description requires a backing pump and an acceptable backing condition before the Roots stage operates; ZJP adds a differential-pressure protection valve. Agree the pressure thresholds and control sequence for the supplied combination rather than assuming every unit can start at atmosphere.
| Published unit | Main-pump geometric speed | Listed backing pump | Listed total power |
|---|---|---|---|
| JZJX-30.4 | 30 L/s | 2X-4A | 1.3 kW |
| JZJX-70.8 | 70 L/s | 2X-8 | 2.6 kW |
| JZJX-150.30 | 150 L/s | 2X-30A | 6 kW |
| JZJX-300.70 | 300 L/s | 2X-70A | 9.5 kW |

For water-ring service, retain the published test conditions in the enquiry
Haisheng lists SZ/2BV single-stage pumps and 2SK two-stage pumps. The water-ring tables state a reference atmosphere of 760 mmHg, water temperature of 15°C, air temperature of 20°C and relative humidity of 70%. Those conditions matter when a plant has warmer recirculated liquid or a different gas mixture.
For example, the 2SK table pairs 2SK-3A with 3 m³/min, 7.5 kW, 1,440 r/min and 15–20 L/min water supply. It lists a separate minimum-pressure entry of 3,300 Pa. The stated water supply is referenced to an inlet vacuum of −400 mmHg and may be greater near the limiting vacuum. Neither that supply figure nor the listed gas speed should be treated as constant across all duties.
For JZJS(Y), include the vapour and entrained-liquid load as well as the required pressure. The package description uses a two-stage liquid-ring backing pump. Request the inlet protection, separator arrangement and selected pump curve at actual liquid temperature, with the acceptable solids and chemical limits stated.

A closed loop changes the cooling and contaminated-liquid obligations
The 2SK/JSK/J2BV closed-circulation listing identifies a vacuum pump, gas/liquid separator, heat exchanger, circulation pump and control system. It also describes working liquids other than water. Request the chosen liquid’s compatibility with the process and pump construction instead of assuming that a lower vapour pressure alone makes it suitable.
Primary liquid-ring guidance identifies the service liquid’s role in sealing, compression and heat removal. For a recirculated arrangement, give available cooling-water conditions and ask for the heat-exchanger duty, liquid temperature control, level control, make-up and drainage provisions. Establish what happens when absorbed process material accumulates in the liquid.
Closed circulation can reduce routine working-liquid discharge, but it does not prove zero emissions or unlimited containment. Define the gas outlet destination, liquid sampling and replacement criteria, purge or blowdown requirements and the plant interfaces. For hazardous service, require an application-specific protection and containment basis for the entire package.

For JZJG, distinguish an oil-free pumping chamber from an oil-free machine
JZJG combines a ZJ Roots main pump with an LG screw backing pump. Haisheng describes oil-free pumping chambers and nickel or PTFE surface-treatment options for process service. Ask which treatment applies to the offered unit, which parts it covers and what gas, temperature and cleaning conditions are allowed.
The LG data sheet separately lists oil seals and mechanical-seal arrangements. Therefore, the oil-free chamber description should not be extended to a claim that no lubrication or seal servicing is needed anywhere in the machine. Request the lubrication points, seal isolation and maintenance schedule, together with any specified flushing, purge or warm-up sequence.
For solvent or condensable service, compare the complete gas path: inlet condenser, pump temperature control, exhaust recovery or treatment and shutdown cleaning. Request capacity at the operating pressure and acceptance under the agreed gas load. The broad catalogue application list does not establish a semiconductor cleanliness grade or suitability for every corrosive or hazardous mixture.
W/WLW reciprocating and MH-2 oil-sealed slide-valve pumps are additional published directions. If one is proposed, ask why it fits this process and obtain its current manual, oil or cooling requirements and inlet protection. A catalogue economy claim is not a measured saving for your installation.

Check the vessel, pipework and operating cycle as one system
Provide the length and diameter of inlet and foreline pipework, valves, filters, condensers and any restrictive connections. Include process leakage and outgassing in the load assessment. Primary vacuum-system guidance distinguishes these gas loads from nominal pump speed; a vessel that releases vapour during the cycle needs more than an empty-vessel ultimate-pressure comparison.
Agree separate tests for blank-off pressure, evacuation time and continuous loaded capacity. Record gauge location and type, absolute pressure, gas conditions, working-liquid or cooling conditions and the main/backing pump operating sequence. Specify whether acceptance is at the pump inlet or the process vessel.
For handover, request the final assembly drawing, piping and instrument diagram, electrical/control documents, operation and shutdown instructions and a component-level spare-parts list. Check clearance for oil servicing, heat-exchanger cleaning, valve removal and pump withdrawal. Define who supplies commissioning instruments and training, and what site utilities must be ready.
