A liquid-end duty and a tank arrangement must be selected together

Jingjiang Haifeng Pump Co., Ltd. identifies itself as 靖江海丰泵业有限公司, based in Xinqiao, Jingjiang, Jiangsu. Its product documentation concentrates on immersed pumps with different shaft supports, chemical materials, intake arrangements and heating provisions. A useful enquiry starts with a tank section and the liquid conditions, rather than a pump name followed by a flow figure.

Define the mounting plate elevation, tank opening, bottom clearance, lowest running level, normal/high levels and discharge nozzle position. Include the liquid temperature, density, viscosity and solids. The liquid end may be submerged while the motor remains above the mounting plate; this is a different installation from placing an entire motor-pump assembly underwater. Ask the proposal to identify every immersed component and the minimum running level.

Different intake and support arrangements solve different tank problems

Haifeng’s separate entries describe the following constructions. Compare them using the actual tank, contamination and service constraints; a chemical or application label does not establish compatibility with every concentration or particle load.

Procurement distinctions from individual Haifeng product entries. Options and installed performance must be confirmed for the quoted assembly.

The same FY designation has different duties at different speeds

The FY page describes a single-stage, single-suction long-shaft centrifugal pump. Its performance table gives paired values at 2,900 and 1,450 rpm. The examples below keep speed, flow, head and motor power together; the slower-speed duty is not the same flow at a lower motor rating.

For FY, Haifeng distinguishes self-flushing with the process liquid from external flushing for dirty liquid or hard particles. Its description calls for an external clean-water or permitted-fluid supply above 0.2 MPa in the solids-bearing case. Obtain the actual bearing flow, pressure at the pump connection, compatible flushing liquid and low-flow response for the selected immersed length. The published pressure reference is not a complete utility specification.

The standard FY description gives 0–105°C and discusses different jackets and guide-bearing arrangements outside that band. Specify the proposed configuration, including cold start and cleaning temperature, rather than extending the standard construction to every temperature mentioned. The statement that nomenclature/ratings adopt ISO conventions does not replace an order-specific conformity or test document.

Paired values from the FY table at the specified speeds. These are catalogue screening points; the selected curve and actual liquid determine the order.

LY motor selection includes a specific-gravity column

The LY / LYO / LYG entry describes multiple shaft supports, axial adjustment and either external lubrication or self-lubrication for the sliding bearings. Its table separates motor selection for specific gravities 1 and 1.35. Retain that density distinction when comparing offers: the same listed flow and head may require a different motor.

For LY40-160 with impeller type A at 2,950 rpm, the table pairs 28 m³/h and 31 m head with 5.5 kW at specific gravity 1, or 7.5 kW at 1.35. The corresponding 1,450 rpm column lists 14 m³/h, 7 m head and 1.1 kW in both density columns. This comparison is useful for the quoted speed and impeller type; it is not a general sizing formula for every viscosity or density.

Ask for the upper bearing, immersed guide-bearing and thrust-load arrangement separately. On the LC long-shaft entry, Haifeng describes external cooling/lubrication for sewage duty, with an optional filtered/separated process-fluid supply where clean water is unavailable. The supply, filtration and flow/pressure monitoring must be included in the agreed configuration. Do not assume the same lubrication route fits every LY, LC or DLY pump.

For long columns, establish shaft alignment and the impeller axial setting using the ordered instructions. Include the lifting envelope and whether the column can be dismantled in sections. The LC table even expresses weight using N, the number of discharge-column sections; a photograph or a base-size weight is insufficient for lifting the final assembly.

“No leakage” is a design discussion and an acceptance test

The HYT entry describes an open impeller, alloy wetted parts and a combination of packing, mechanical seal and oil seal for titanium-tetrachloride service. It also describes a top-side maintenance arrangement in which the motor and bearing components can be removed to replace the mechanical seal without lifting the whole pump. Ask for the drawing of the quoted configuration and the actual replacement sequence.

Specify liquid composition, impurities, temperature, tank pressure and vapour containment. Obtain the seal-material schedule, required auxiliaries and a measurable containment acceptance procedure. Catalogue claims of absolute leak freedom or a fixed six-month service life should not be used as a guaranteed result for a different process.

Top access is valuable only if the installation provides room to remove the parts and isolate the process. Check the motor lifting route, coupling access, tank isolation/draining and handling of contaminated parts. Agree which seal kit and sleeves are supplied as spares, tied to the approved drawing and serial/order identification.

PW intake distribution and FYU materials address different problems

The PW page describes four suction heads, an agitator below the main intake and a cutting device for fibrous material. These are useful configuration details for a sump with distributed deposits. Send a plan of the pit and sediment zones, then ask where each suction head sits, how the assembly is supported and what solids/fibres the ordered construction permits. Four intakes do not mean the whole pit is swept under every liquid level.

FYU is described as a modified ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene construction for corrosive clear liquid or slurry. Its performance table explicitly uses clear-water values. Provide particle size and concentration, hardness, settling behaviour and chemical composition; request a slurry-specific proposal and materials for every wetted part. A polymer casing name alone does not define the bearing, shaft sleeve or wear-part compatibility.

The FYS entry has an agitation-oriented title but its description specifies corrosive liquid without solid particles. Do not assign a sediment-duty requirement to that title alone. Decide whether you need keeping solids suspended, cutting fibres, clearing a pit or simply moving clear corrosive liquid, and obtain the configuration that addresses that particular task.

LHY heating and ATY gear-pump protection need a complete circuit

The LHY entry concerns liquid-sulphur service at 130–158°C and describes steam or heat-transfer-oil jackets on the liquid-end/discharge arrangement. Ask the quotation to show the heated sections, supply/return connections, permitted jacket conditions, insulation and drainage. Include the liquid state after a shutdown and the agreed warming procedure before starting.

ATY is presented as an immersed gear-pump route for liquids such as sulphur, bitumen, paraffin and coal tar, with jacketed pipework and speed control. This is a positive-displacement proposal, so specify discharge pressure and overpressure protection as well as flow. Confirm the relief route, valve setting and response to a blocked discharge in the complete system; do not assume pressure protection is included because a pump photograph is shown.

The ATY entry contains inconsistent general temperature statements, and LHY mentions special high-temperature manufacture beyond its ordinary description. Require a signed material/seal/bearing and heating schedule for the actual fluid. Do not combine the highest flow, pressure, viscosity and temperature figures into one universal operating point. For solidifying liquids, include standby, restart and cleaning conditions in the performance and operating agreement.

The mounting plate is only one part of the installation interface

For a retrofit, provide the existing mounting opening, bolt pattern, plate thickness/support, discharge flange position, immersed length, shaft/column arrangement and available crane height. For a new tank, coordinate minimum running level, intake clearance and approach flow with the selected pump. State the reference elevation used for inlet-pressure/NPSH calculations so a tank-top dimension is not confused with the liquid-end datum.

Include bearing-flush flow/pressure, heating or cooling services, tank ventilation/pressure and electrical controls in the site interface list. Agree permissives before startup and what happens when liquid level, flushing or heating falls outside the permitted conditions. Hazardous-area requirements need the exact motor and assembly documents; a catalogue category called explosion-proof is not evidence for every supplied unit.

For acceptance, agree flow/head test points, speed, test liquid, motor loading and applicable test basis. Add material and dimensional checks, seal/containment requirements, utility availability and the maintenance demonstration needed for the process. Request the selected curve, general arrangement, wiring/interlock description, operating instructions and drawing-linked wear/shaft/seal spares.

Send the tank section, fluid schedule and maintenance requirement

Build the enquiry around the intended installation. Specify which risk dominates—dirty bearing lubrication, corrosive slurry, vapour containment, heated transfer or long-column access—so the proposed construction and supplied auxiliaries can be evaluated together.
