BY TEMPERATURE CLASS

Ambient / Standard-Temperature Valves

Temperature bands used to start a shortlist. Seat, packing and body material still have to be written into the RFQ.

Choosing Ambient / Standard-Temperature Valves

Ambient or standard-temperature service still requires a defined operating range. The fluid, outdoor conditions, cleaning cycle and startup can expose seals to conditions beyond normal room temperature. Material compatibility is independent of this broad temperature label.

What to include in the RFQ

  • Specify the lowest and highest fluid and ambient temperatures.
  • Include cleaning, freeze risk and occasional operating conditions.
  • Request the complete assembly pressure-temperature and material limits.

Selection scenario

For an outdoor water line, include winter shutdown and any chemical treatment in the specification. Select the body, seat and operator against those conditions.

Common selection mismatch

Do not assume a valve is suitable merely because its normal duty occurs near room temperature; non-routine conditions can govern the purchase.
