Choosing Water & HVAC Valves
Water and HVAC duties include isolation, balancing, regulation and reverse-flow prevention. These functions require different valve behavior. Water chemistry, operating temperature and system pressure must be supplied alongside the intended hydraulic role.
What to include in the RFQ
- Identify isolation, balancing, control or non-return duty.
- Provide flow range, allowable pressure loss and temperature.
- State water treatment, solids, materials and any potable-water requirement.
Selection scenario
For a chilled-water pump branch, compare the regulating requirement separately from maintenance isolation and discharge reverse-flow protection. One family name need not cover all three.
Common selection mismatch
Water service is not automatic evidence of drinking-water suitability or acceptable compatibility with the treatment chemicals used on site.
