BY TEMPERATURE CLASS
Medium-Temperature Valves
Temperature bands used to start a shortlist. Seat, packing and body material still have to be written into the RFQ.
Choosing Medium-Temperature Valves
Medium temperature has no single numeric boundary across suppliers. The actual temperature and pressure together determine which body, seat and packing can be offered. Ask for the complete assembly limit and consider the number and speed of thermal cycles.
What to include in the RFQ
- Give operating/design temperatures and pressures at the same conditions.
- Specify seat/packing materials and the required leakage acceptance.
- Include startup, shutdown and cleaning cycles in the duty description.
Selection scenario
For a hot-water or process-liquid line, compare the offered material/rating combination at operating temperature, not only the catalogue room-temperature maximum.
Common selection mismatch
A generic material temperature chart is not a valve assembly rating. Use the exact size, construction and service conditions.
