BY SERVICE MEDIUM
Steam Valves
Liquid, gas, steam or slurry names used by buyers. The node is a route, not a corrosion allowance.
Choosing Steam Valves
Steam service should identify saturated or superheated conditions and the operating pressure-temperature pair. Isolation, pressure reduction, regulation and condensate drainage are separate functions. The specification should also address startup, drainage and the installation arrangement.
What to include in the RFQ
- State steam condition, pressure, temperature and demand range.
- Identify the exact valve function and flow/installation direction.
- Review drainage, straining, stem sealing and downstream protection as applicable.
Selection scenario
For a steam-consuming process, review the inlet control and condensate-return conditions together. A correctly rated isolation valve cannot resolve a drainage problem by itself.
Common selection mismatch
Do not apply a liquid-service seat or temperature claim to steam without confirmation of the complete assembly and service.
