Pneumatic Actuated Valves

Where the operating energy comes from — the line itself, a handwheel, or an external actuator.

Choosing Pneumatic Actuated Valves

Pneumatic actuators convert compressed-air energy into valve movement. Double-acting and spring-return configurations differ in their supply and failure behavior. Size the package using the available air-pressure range and the valve load through its travel.

What to include in the RFQ

  • Give minimum and maximum air supply, air quality and required travel time.
  • Specify single- or double-acting construction and the required loss-of-air position.
  • Request torque/thrust sizing, solenoid function, positioner and feedback details.

Selection scenario

For a spring-return shutdown package, check the closing load at the lowest air supply and the spring-side requirements. Include the accessory circuit in the acceptance review.

Common selection mismatch

A spring-return actuator alone does not establish a certified safety function. Review the valve, controls and system requirements as one assembly.
