BY END CONNECTION

Threaded / Screwed Ends

How the valve joins the pipe. End type is a procurement field, not a hydraulic rating.

Choosing Threaded / Screwed Ends

Threaded valve ends may use tapered or parallel threads with different sealing arrangements. NPT, ISO tapered and ISO parallel designations should be written explicitly. A nominal inch size is not enough to identify thread geometry or the required seal.

What to include in the RFQ

  • Specify thread standard, size, male/female ends and sealing method.
  • Confirm pressure-temperature compatibility of the entire connection.
  • Request installation instructions and identify permitted sealant or gasket materials.

Selection scenario

For an instrument-line replacement, identify the existing mating thread using its standard and measurements. Resolve adapters as separately rated components rather than forcing an apparent size match.

Common selection mismatch

NPT and BSP/ISO threads must not be assumed interchangeable. Parallel and tapered threads can also seal differently.
