BY END CONNECTION
Wafer & Lug (Between Flanges)
How the valve joins the pipe. End type is a procurement field, not a hydraulic rating.
Choosing Wafer & Lug (Between Flanges)
Wafer and lug constructions are installed at a flange interface but use different body and bolting arrangements. Mating-flange compatibility, disc clearance and permitted end-of-line conditions are central procurement checks, particularly for butterfly valves.
What to include in the RFQ
- Identify wafer or lug construction and the mating-flange standard.
- Request drilling, bolt arrangement, gasket instructions and disc-clearance dimensions.
- Confirm whether downstream pipe removal is permitted and the applicable pressure limitation.
Selection scenario
If maintenance will remove the downstream spool, obtain written end-of-line approval for the exact valve. Compare this condition separately from normal operation between two complete flanges.
Common selection mismatch
A lugged body should not automatically be treated as unrestricted dead-end service. Use the manufacturer rating and installation instructions.
