Hygienic / Sanitary Valves

Liquid, gas, steam or slurry names used by buyers. The node is a route, not a corrosion allowance.

Choosing Hygienic / Sanitary Valves

Hygienic and sanitary service adds cleanability and contamination-control requirements to ordinary pressure and flow selection. Drainability, surface condition, seal design and cleaning cycles must match the process. A polished exterior does not establish internal hygienic design.

What to include in the RFQ

  • Specify product fluid, cleaning/sterilization cycle and installation orientation.
  • Request wetted materials, surface finish, drainability and seal documentation.
  • For separated streams, identify leakage detection and the required mixing/changeover behavior.

Selection scenario

At a product/cleaning interface, show which streams must remain separated in each operating position. Review the valve internals and cleaning sequence before selecting a mixproof or diaphragm arrangement.

Common selection mismatch

Food, sanitary and aseptic are not interchangeable qualifications. Request the evidence required by the actual process and offered design.
